Thank you everyone who has been talking about soaps and lotions here, and especially thanks to Loamy for sharing recipes and methods. You've all inspired me to get back to basics and make my own skin care stuf.
I Finallygot around to making some moisturizer. My skin thanks you all too. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Bloom where you are planted. tulips 4 buddy at yahoo dot com |

Where do you get your ingredients for homemade lotions? My skin is so dry and sensitive. I try and avoid all the detergents etc (SLS's) in the commercial stuff. I've gone to using just pure oils and my skin is much happier. The greasiness of the oils can be hard to deal with though. I'm just wondering if you have any good sources for supplies and maybe recipes too ???

I concocted a recipe loosely based on those Loamy posted a few weeks back. Cocoabutter, grapeseed oil, water, and a little beeswax. Don't have a scale so I just sort of put in a little of this and a little of that.
The cocoabutter I ordered online from the soap making section of the Pinetree Garden catalog. Grapeseed oil, I just used from the same bottle as for cooking. As for beeswax I have a dear old friend who is a beekeeper. This is a pretty heavy duty moisturizer, more like a night cream. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Bloom where you are planted. tulips 4 buddy at yahoo dot com |
