Has anyone braided garlic before? I thought there had been previous posts, but I can't seem to find them. I would like try braiding mine, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Any suggestions?

The current OG magazine has an article on braiding onions or garlic, complete with step-by-step pictures.

Can you find a copy at the library? The info you need is all on one page.

I'm treating myself to a few craft magazines as reward for landing a new job today! I'm looking forward to braiding my very own garlic on my first day off!

I just braided some of mine, but the stalks were already brown and brittle - doesn't look ready for it's closeup, but makes for nice giveaways.

I've been wondering about how dry to dry them myself... I think you may be able to moisten the stalk part with a damp towel if you have to. Once I saw someone do a braiding demo with hardneck garlic (he couldn't source any softneck) and he had moistened the stalks somewhat first -- maybe with damp towels. Of course they didn't come out too great either, but we got the idea.

My softneck is drying right now. This is the first year I've had enough to try braiding and I'm really looking forward to it! Some of it is teeny, but I'll try a few braids anyway. Hopefully they will be "cute." Wink

Congrats on the new job, 3girls!

I doubt my garlic braids will be very neat but I'm running low on shelf space so I thought if I could hang mine it would help on storage.

I'll have to hurry though as this working think will seriously hamper my crafting time!
