While I got up late... boy.. I'm not bored when DS is home. Plus trying to get the rabbits outside to the back porch. They do make a mess and chew up a lot of things if they escape their cages,

I got up, went out to the garden with Alsadar and the cats. He had a big time. I have been digging the Ground Ivy off the garden. I raked the garden debris into what should become those paths I had in the pitiful diagram of my garden,

I worked out with a rake/hoe 3 rows... I'm going to plant Peas tomorrow and put out this plat I started 10 days ago into one row.

I think the peas, carrots, beets, chard, and lettuces should be okay.. with temps in the 60's and 70's this week.. Enough so that when the next cold snap comes in... They should do okay.. Our cold snap is highs in the 40's...

But I wore myself out cooking for DS and getting the rabbit cages outside. This puppy isn't that bad compared to keeping up with the rabbits. I cooked Meatloaf and scalloped potatoes from scratch. Boy.. I remember when it took both my mother and Dad's Mother to keep up with the cooking, cleaning, and laundry, plus the garden.. That's why they drug me to the garden when I was about 4yr old!

The biggest problem I have with dogs is that Smell. BUT I think I can bathe Alsadar to. keep down that smell...

Also... while out in my beds... I turned over a tub in the old "Duck Run".. This is where I have been putting the rabbit cage wastes all winter.. My goodness.. There were worms every
where! Smiler

WE are going to fix the screened in porch tomorrow. I plan on planting my peas tomorrow, at least one row.

I want you folks to know that I forget to sign off on this website. THey used to kick us off after so long......... I just forget to log off.. It's not like I hang out here for hours on end. Most of the time! I

Rabbity, just a tip about grooming, batheing the puppy. All of the dogs I had would get a treat out of the fridge only after they had been groomed and washed. It didn't matter what I gave them from the fridge but they knew if they were good when I groomed them that they would get the treat from the place people get food from! I started this when they were very young and grooming was no problem, they would stay still and be good until I was done with the clipping, washing, and trimming of the toe nails. When I said- okay we're done- off they would run to the fridge!

One nice thing about a very short haired dog is he has a clean scent, doesn't smell bad at all. In fact he smells sweet.

Jennifer, it's not so much as how long the dogs hair is. Some dogs just get doggy smelling and some not. We use to have Keeshonds they have very long hair, but are only suppose to be bathed 2 times a year at the most as it drys out their skin.... but they don't get doggy smelling either, really they look like high maintanence dogs, but are easy care, just a good brushing out a few times a year.

Then we had a cocker spaniel, people who show this breed bathe them once a week, Yikes! I didn't get around to doing it that often, more like once a month, she never got that smelly either. But she grew hair like crazy, so it was more of a hair cut she needed then a bath. She came from a woman who raised show dogs, and had more hair than a regular cocker spaniel... She was a high maintanence dog!

My aunt kept daschounds and that's what my friend has. Seems like they smell. In my opinion, shepherds, collies, and dogs like that don't smell bad. THen again, they may get their smell by the kind of food they eat (they lick themselves to clean their fur).
