I would love to start onions that are perinnels.
I have garlic, shallots and chives that thrive here. I would think perinnel onions would thrive too.

I'm reading that article in OG magazine.. But what do you folks recommend and where do you get them?

I did not read OG yet but I do have walking onions, is that what we are talking about? This time of year they are great for green onions here. I sometimes use them as regular onions when they get bigger(late spring) before they "walk" or top set bulbs, but they aren't huge so you need a few. If you want some remind me in the spring before they "walk" and I can send you some of the top set bulbs. It takes awhile to develop a big enough colony to harvest from though and some people don't like them because they tend to wander all over and take up space year round.

Some call them Egyptian Walking onions. Mother called them Forever onions.

I like to take the little bulblets in the fall and plant a row of them. They will come up very early in the spring and make some little green onions. The bulblets will also store well for a time in a dry location to be planted every few weeks to have little green onions all summer.

I have seen them advertised in some of the nursery catalogs. Maybe Gurney's? gurneys.com

Plant a little seed...........
