I have a nice patch of bee balm. Every year after it finishes blooming I wish there was something else in that space to provide color and flowers. Ideas anyone? Thanks!

What cultivar of bee-balm do you have?
In spring as the plant is coming up, you can tip prune to extend the bloom time. You can also pick the flowers and the bee balm will send up more or prune it back after bloom and it will re grow new shoots.
I have 'David' phlox(white) in front of 'Marshall's Delight' (pink)monarda. Both of these are powdery mildew resistant.
The 'David' is shorter and if dead headed will continue to send up smaller blooms until frost.
I used to have the annual white nicotiana alata(the fragrant one) in front of the monardas.
You could also find a late blooming lily or day lily.

I got mine from a friend about four years ago. It's red, sorry don't know the name. I do deadhead the finished blooms, but so far they haven't re-flowered. Maybe they were too young and will do so this year? Last year was the first time it really spread out and I had lots of blooms. They haven't bloomed yet this season, maybe I'll cut the tips off of some of them and see what happens.
