Okay, I'm not a maniac as far as my lawn goes. Time, money, and energy goes to the garden first. But I've got a lot of onion grass and it seems to be more and more each year since we've been here (3 years).
It doesn't really bother me, heck there's plenty of worse things that could be troubling me, but is it a sign of something else in my yard, something out of balance perhaps? If I choose to go through the effort of getting rid of it or controlling it, anybody got some suggestions?
Wild onions and/or garlic seem to prefer to grow in the poorer soil areas of my lawn. Adding lots of organic matter causes them to move somewhere else.
Most of the onion grass is growing in wet areas under some black walnuts where it will be in full shade later this season into summer. After adding more organic matter to these areas, anyone have suggestions what grass or other plants will grow well in such an area with minimal maintenance?
