Smiler don't know why those posts got dropped...

as for posting pics at that site, one must join, then you just upload pics you have on your hard drive by following the directions at that site.

To get pics on your hard drive there are a few options. The cheapest, simplest way is to take pics with a regular old camera, but when you have the film developed, pay an extra $5 for a picture cd. You slide that cd into your computer and the pics download pretty much all by themselves.

Another option along the same lines is when you have film developed to have pictures "online". That too costs a few extra dollars, however, those pictures will be deleted by the film company in a few months unless you BUY more from them, so it's a waste of money. I like the cd option better, as you have the cd in your possession. (and the cd comes with it's own mini photo editing program).

Another option is a scanner (around $120) which will scan your photos, drawings, what have you and put them into a digital format. Some scanners are fax machines too which has possibilities...

Another option is a digital camera. These take NO FILM. After you take your photos, the camera plugs into the computer and the pictures get loaded onto the hard drive. Then you erase the images from the camera. The digital camera even lets you preview the image before taking the photo, and you can look at it after you take the photo and delete it if you don't like it...pretty cool.

The larger the photo, and the more detail in it, the larger the file. Large files are very slow to upload. For viewing on websites, if you can change your digital photo to a lesser quality 100 kb as opposed to 600 kb, things will move much more quickly.

Thank you, Mulchwoman, for the information about ways to get pictures on to the computer. I knew some of that stuff, but learned some new ways.

Mulchwoman is a great name for a gardener--makes me think of my activities today.
We're getting ready, mulching that is, for what looks like it might be a cold winter. My trees give only so many leaves--been driving around the area, picking up bags of leaves today. Had a great time.

Composter, busy mulching in Middle Tennessee
