Just wondering how many of you received the $10 apology from Park Seed for their email (a list of things you ordered last year) mistake.

I'm just curious if you took advantage of it, and if so, what did you order? I'm assuming it was something you wouldn't have normally spent your own 10 bucks on(or you would have ordered it in the first place).

I'm curious what each of you purchased?

I didn't order the Purple Majesty Millet this year due to the high cost and lousy germination rate, but with the free $10 I decided to get a couple of packages.

The irony of the whole thing is that I never even read the original email that supposedly caused such consternation in Park's customers.
Maybe I shouldn't have spent their $10

Hmmmmm?

I havn't ordered from Parks for years, since they don't tend to have the op and heirloom varieties I want...but I remember them as a very concscientious company. Every time there was a problem with their seeds, and that didn't happen too often, they would happily give me extra, refund my money, and always threw in a free gift, too.

I got the original email and thought that they were:

1.idiots. I didn't order from them last spring OR
2. a stupid mix-up.

I just deleted the email. Then I got the apology email and really started to wonder if the first "mistake" was a marketing ploy to setup the need to apologize, and therefore entice people to make purchases they weren't planning on before they got a free $10. So of course I took a look at their website and decided to get the seed starting materials I planned to buy anyway from someplace else. Then I checked out the shipping cost and found that minimum is $6.95. That leaves $3.05 for free merchandise. So I decided to just get a tray, proceeded to place my order and the site didn't recognize my "special" code. I don't know if I will bother to try again.

growitall,

Shipping for seed is only $1.95
You can pick up a few packets and still come in under $10

I didn't have a problem with the code. Are you sure you put it in the right box. You have to go clear through the order process almost to the very last page to get to the "gift certificate" box.

My mistake, weedkicker. I got the shipping from the plant catalog. I'll give it another try. Having to pass on free $10 was a bummer.

Thanks,
Kate

Weedkicker:

I did go back and give it another try with success. Having just placed a delusionally large order for seeds with Johnny's, I wanted to get some new seed starting supplies. I got a set of trays with domes and owed a balance of $1.90. I can live with that.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Kate
