Help please with any suggestions for getting rid of a hive of ground bees that have burrowed in next to a couple of my blueberry bushes.

There is not to many options available. I have heard that hives in the ground are some of the hardest to get rid of. Do you want to try and save them?? I believe that they all should be saved, but sometimes you don't have many options. One way is to plug/block their entrance holes, do this when they are not active, I hear it works. Good luck, I hope this helps some

Little buggers, ain't they! Smiler Mind you, they are pollinators in their own right so they do play a role. Nasty, short-tempered things to have around, notably with kids.

They den at dusk and are all watching sitcoms down there below the ground when it's dark out, so that's the time to discourage them. I once put a hose into their entrance and let that flush them out....bad move, they were wet and crawling around in the dark in an anti-social mood. Come daylight, they left and went elsewhere, this may be the simplest way to recalibrate their choices.

Cruder version: gasoline into hole at night, matches..poof! Buggie fries. Looks neat and all but not an earth friendly choice, you know?

Exactly what species of bees are we talking about? If they are aggressive and territorially defensive, it is time to use mint oil to do them in. you can find a spray made by Woodstream-Safers.

I am sensitive to bee stings and had this problem with those aggressive ground bees next to my blueberries this past summer.Early in the morning before they became active, I poured boilng water down the hole...and it worked!

I used to grind bees, but, dear heavens, never next to my blueberries.
