Hi,
I'm interested in growing some herbs in a window box in my apartment, but little sun reaches my side of the building. Any suggestions for hardy plants that might grow well?
Thanks

Lauren

Coleus (for dysentary) is lovely and grows quite well in shade. Spilanthes and watercress will also do quite well in shade. I've got tons of mint, lemon balm, and catnip growing quite happily on the north side of the house under black walnut trees, so they obviously don't require all that much sun. Sweet woodruff is a shade loving herb, as is alum root, goldenseal, ginseng, wasabi, cimcifugia, blue cohosh, wintergreen, black cohosh, bloodroot, mayapple, gotu Kola, comfrey, lilly of the valley, lungwort, ginger, galangal, parsley, mint, french tarragon, chives, sorrel, bee balm, bay, cilantro...Hmm, that's about all I can think of right now.

Blood root, ginseng, cypripediums, skullcap taps my ideas out.

Of the common culinary herbs, parsley is the one that comes mind that may fit your requirements.
