I helped my neighbor haul off tree limbs yesterda from the recent ice strom. The county and city have huge piles of debris. The county has already mulched some and had a HUGE pile at the landfill - free for the taking. I did and sent it thru the old Troy-Bilt with a small screen. It looks beautiful in my veggie garden walkways and border. I had been using shredded pine cones but they are labor intensive.

I'm so happy that you're so happy! Smiler

And how long would it take you to bring a load of that stuff to Iowa?

I'm so jealous. Glad you're happy. When you are done hauling to Iowa could you keep heading east until you get to Jersey?

Good for you!! Now tell me a little about the shredded pine cone mulch, sounds interesting. How do you shred them and where can you collect enough of them to amount to anything? Does the mulch attract squirrels?
Thx--Old Dirt

Mumsey & growitall - wish I could bring you a load. old dirt - pines cones are targets of opportunity, kinda like my fall leaf collecting. Haven't had anyone complain about me picking up their pine cones, I always ask first. Or leave a note and ask for a call, some interesting conversations. I struck pay dirt at the airport, THOUSANDS. Good exercise if nothing else. I shred them with an "old style" Troy-Bilt chipper shredder using the screen with 1/2" holes. Jury is still out on long term use of pine cones. Think I'll try them on the back lot line - 100' ?????? (senior moment - big, bushy & green, lots of leaves) Big Grin I use the left over dust for acid loving plants - blueberries. If you have any more specific questions or want pictures e-mail me, glad to help. No squirrels around mulch they're to busy stealing sunflower seeds from bid feeders in the front yard.
