Hey, Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your questions! The red spiked flower is Celosia, according to Pam, we use row covers on almost anything...for a variety of reasons: to protect lettuce heads and leaves from rough weather, to protect other plants from beetles...right now we have them on our basil garden, eggplants, and new soybean seedlings. The mesh cover that was around the cauliflower is called: Moth Blocker http://www.mothblocker.com/. Thanks for checking out the blog!
