Trying to fertilize the veg garden (tomatoes, eggplant, herbs) but I keep getting "subverted" by rain. As fertilizer, I apply a fish emulsion solution to the soil -- should I hold off until after a rain? (If I apply the solution before a rain, will it just get so diluted as to be less useful?) (And, yes, people in the mid U.S. are wishing they had my "problem"...)
When you grow things in pots, I've always found it better to get the pot wet, and come back an hour later and add the water mixed with fertilizer.
I think that works good in the ground also. After a rain or manual watering, let it rest, and an hour later, go back out and apply your liquid fertilizer.

I always felt that if the soil was too dry that the fertilizer solution would just get the surface of the soil wet and not penetrate to the root area. However too much rain will probably wash it away.
