I read that a Borax & honey mixture will get rid of ants. Is that the same as the boric acid recipe?

Not really, but it's close.
Boric acid can be bought at almost any hardware or garden center. It is great for killing ants or roaches. It is safe to humans indoors.
Ants tend to eat the boric acid, if mixed with something sweet like sugar or syrups. Roaches tend to eat the boric acid, if mixed with some starchy foods like fresh bread dough or wet grain flour.
DE (diatomaceous earth) is great for killing ants and roaches and other soft body insect pests in the garden.
