They're a hybrid blackberry. My dad grew them along with several other berries. The marion berries were plumper and less seedy than most of the blackberries I was familiar with.

Are they worthwhile to grow? Sure if you like and want blackberries.

Thanks!

Did he grow them in your zones? I'm in zone 6 so they should be OK if so.

Will I need to build a trellis or stake em or are they self supporting?

He grew them in zone 8, so I'm not sure if they would be hardy to zone 6. And I would definately trellis them to make your life easier, rambling about with all the thorns and all.

I believe they were developed in the cool wet conditions that mostly prevail in the Willamette Valley which is zone 6, so they ought to do well in any place that is like Western Oregon.

Mulch where you can
Weed when you have to
Till if you must
It's all part of the plan
(apologies to Dan Fogelberg)
