Yesterday I bought new loppers to prune the fruit trees and I love my new tool! I almost passed them by because they have relatively short handles and I was looking for long handled loppers. They are Fiskars powergear loppers and they cut very easily for such a reasonably priced item. I generally buy cheap loppers because my boys will take my tools out and leave them around so they get rusty or lost under leaves and such. These powergear loppers work like the expensive loppers and were much easier to use standing up on a ladder as I was yesterday. Who knows how long they will hold up, but they were cheap enough that I don't mind.

The only down side is that my youngest was so thrilled he could cut things now that he started "pruning" everything he could find. He has very limited hand strength due to some hand deformaties but he could use these with ease.

That is so cool to find a great tool at a great price, and one your son can use too! Hopefully he doesn't prune too much! Wink

Fiskars is a reliable brand, not the Ferrari of pruners, but good. I just had to replace my birthday-gift pruners that were either stolen or are misplaced. Funny, because I really don't remember where I last saw them, but I'm pretty sure it was close to the tool bag... I looked on-line to see what brand they might be and the closest thing was Felco's #2 - have they always had red handles? The one I lost had green handles and I don't see new shears with anything but red or orange now. Now I know that my friend spent over $40 for my gift! Holy crap! Glad I sent thank you notes after my 30th birthday party...
