We recently moved to the Kansas City area from California....what a switch! I just checked the zone map. Is KC in zone 5 or 6? Thanks!

Hi, jagfish and welcome!
Your best (and really most accurate) bet is to get in touch with your local extension agency and ask them. Even though maps are good general guidelines, zones can be a bit ambiguous at times. Even within one zone, or one part of a state, hardiness for cold and heat extremes can vary. So, your local agency (or some knowledgable gardening neighbor - if you've got one - could help). But, in the meantime check out these sites for some good general zone information: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/wildseed/info/6.1.html http://www.victoryseeds.com/hardzone/ (Just scroll down a bit where it says "US & Canada") Good luck and again, welcome! gardenz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "To Live Is Not Just To Survive, But To Thrive With Passion, Compassion, Humor & Style." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Blogs: GardenzOwn OurGardenEarth |
