Does anyone know how to sucessfully deal with these plant strippers?

From what I have read, leafcutters will attack only one or possibly a few plants(at least at one time), they use the leaves to grow a fungus which they eat. But their nest can be extensive and deep. I havent found any safe solutions to deal with them just yet, but it looks like a call to a professional is needed.
