Not knowing if and when I may hear back from Organic Gardening. Does anyone know if I spread Corn Gluten Meal on my lawn to control the weeds, how long do I wait before reseeding?

Well for Corn Gluten Meal to be effective, it is to be used twice a year, in the mid spring and in early to mid-August, for up to 3 years depending how infested your lawn is with weeds.

I would wait until you have mowed your lawn at least 3 - 5 times before I would reseed. But that creates another problem: By the time the your soil is safe to reseed, the time of year may wrong.

Reseeding is best accomplished in early to mid September. The second best time would be in the spring.

I think I would use the Corn Gluten to remove the weeds first before I reseeded. Or only use the Corn Gluten for the spring application and not in the fall. Then reseed in the fall.

corn gluten on lawns. be sure to use before the
weed seeds start to germinate.use early in year. if you put out after they start you will have a
great stand of weeds. it is a good fertilizer.

I assume you want to spread the corn gluten this spring. You can't reseed with grass until the fall. This will give the corn gluten sufficient time to decompose and allow your grass seed to germinate. I have used corn gluten several times. It is an effective organic course to take for weed control assuming the weeds you want to stop are from seed. It will not stop weeds that put out runners. It is also not 100% effective in preventing seed germination but it will slow down the spread of dandylions.
