Hi all, the Southern side of my house has been invaded by what I think are boxelder bugs. Smaller than 1/2" long with red on the back. They don't cause damage but are literally swarming in the sun. I have been hosing them off but they are persistent little boogers. They are determined to find a way through the storm windows and are trying to wiggle under the cedar shingles, I assume to lay eggs. A google search only turned up using Diazinon and Sevin. Ain't gonna happen in my yard. Any ideas ?
Do you have a shop vac??? suck them up and either dump them in the burning barrel and lite it up or dump them in a bucket full of soapy water and drown them!!!Dont know how much damage they really cause but they are disgusting when they swarm all over the front of your house Good luck ! Willow
We've had a problem with box elder bugs for years. Like you said, they swarmed the south side of the house and invaded us every year. They do no damage, but they are kind of gross. About four years ago the old box elder in front of the house finally got too old and had to be removed. This is the first year we've had with none of the bugs to be found anywhere.
