Hi everyone
I have been reading as a guest for a while but this is my first post. Has anyone had experience ordering berries from Stark Bros. I priced blackberries at my local supplier and then saw that Stark had the same variety for 1/3 the price. They also offered more varieties which would be nice. Any feedback would be appreciated.

pepperpot,

Welcome to the forums. Smiler

Sorry this took so long to respond to, and again, sorry I can't be more helpful. The truth is I haven't bought from Stark Brothers, but it sounds like quite a deal. Do they have a web site? Did you receive a catalog? I'd bet you would do fine ordering from them. I'd love info on themn if you can!

Stark Bro's wesite is: www.starkbros.com and their tool-free number is 1-800-325-4180.

I moved to the mountains of North Carolina from Crookston MN 7 years ago. It will be in the 50s today and tomorrow so I will be planting sugar peas and spinach instead of shoveling snow or ice fishing!

Hi, Stark Bros has been in business for many years so I'd guess that they are okay to do business with since I've never heard anything bad about them in my 35 years of backyard gardening.

Out of curiosity -- I wondered if you'd ever tried loganberries, boysenberries, or youngberries? We have them here as well as blackberries & I rate them for flavor much higher than the blackberries, so I was kind of curious about the couple of people I'd seen asking about blackberries, but no one talking about the hybrids I mentioned.

Although I've not dealt with berries from Stark Bros., my dad has bought fruit trees from them for years and regard them highly. Good quality stock and good customer service, in his opinion.

I've been told that true blackberries don't survive winter freezing - you either need to live in a mild-winter zone, or else mulch them like crazy every fall. Black (and red) raspberries, on the other hand, do just fine with snow and cold and freezing all that stuff. Sometimes the names get switched/mixed up/confused... make sure you get the ones you want and that will grow where you are. It would be sooo disappointing to lose them after one season!

All the best! (and happy picking!)
