I was wondering if you think the reason to grow organic seeds was because there were chemical residues in the seeds, for philosofical reasons or some other reason? I have some organicaly grown and some not. What cha think? Tim
For me, I think it's a little of each. I'll admit that as far as my ornamental gardens go (which by far out measures my veggie garden), I don't stand on such organic-high ground as far as only using organically-grown seeds. I figure it all balances out in the end by the organic aftercare the plants get once they're under my stewardship. But when it comes to the veggie garden, I do make every effort to purchase organically-grown and harvested seed whenever economically and availability possible.
The only reason I buy organic vegetable seed is that I know they haven't been genetically modified -- and because it's required for certification. But I can't imagine that a seed, any seed, could contain enough chemicals that their progeny would harm my body.
Wherever you go, there you are.Your luggage is another story.

Many of the seeds grown "conventionally" are contaminated with the genes from the modified crops. Most all corn seed today will have the genes from that modification unless you do get organic seed. To date not all of our vegetables have been genetically modified so for many things it will make no difference except for the most part you support the companies responsible for this genetic modification unless you make an effort to buy organic seeds.

Bill, I am interested. Where can I buy your seeds? I mean do you have a list or a website or just send you an email? Thanks.

It don't matter what you call me; as long as you call me in time for supper!

That has got to be the best straight forward simplictic explanation I have ever heard about organic seeds vs. convention seeds, both grown by organic methods.
Next time I teach a garden class and someone ask me that question, I'll use your explanation.
Happy Garden!

Email me at griffinsorganics@yahoo.com and i will send a list of what I still have in stock. Keep in mind though, my inventory is a little limited as this is my first year at doing this.
