What could be causing bumps that look like they are under the skin of the stems. Yellowing leaves that started from the bottom...HELP
Do I need to take the plant out...The plant is called a Tomato Tree. My DH wanted to try it. It was to grow very high and produce volumes. So far my Cherokee Purple has out preformed it and is taller.

my tomatoes have little bumps....I never paid much attention to them.

Yellow leaves just make me think they need more food..tomatoes are super heavy feeders.

I believe that is where the side roots come out. You know, when you plant the stem further than it is potted, that's where the roots come out to further give the plant more stability. I always plant my tomatoes deeper then it is potted and they grow out roots there. They do no harm. Smiler

Nothing to worry about, its the nature of tomato plants to form those bumps...and if the bumps were to come in contact with soil, the bumps would produce roots.
The yellowing of the lower leaves/branches is also the nature of tomato plants. You can trim them off if you want, or leave them...sometimes a new branch will form just above a yellow branch. The yellow branches will turn brown, dry out and fall off.
Nothing to worry about..
