Had a neat lantana fall from the sky this past summer in a bad place. But I pampered it and collected the seeds when they dried. Has anyone ever started lantana from seed? How long to germinate? Do I need to do anything special?

Haven't ever started it from seed. I usually try to get at least one plant each season. They can really take over an area, if you pinch them back, and they're wonderfully drought tolerant.
I'm sorry I can't give you any info on the seeding aspect, but I came across this really neat article all about lantanas. They are quite amazing plants with some unexpected herbal/health qualities: http://www.gardensablaze.com/Perennials/PerennialLantana.htm (Hopefully some good reading till someone else can offer some seeding advice). gardenz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. Hey there Dirt, I just got back to SC to see if things can work. It sure is warm down here.
Lantana is very difficult to grow from seed and may not be true. But it is very easy to devide the root ball and now is the time to do it. Once it is growing cuttings are also very easy. When is the next MG meeting? peace |
