Greetings, Anybody know how to use food compost. I have a compost bin that is full of mostly food waste and some light yard waste. I made a sifter to sift the good stuff out. How much do i use on each plant outside and also inside ones. I will let it bake out in the sun before I use it inside. Can I mix it with water and use it as a weekly fertilizer. It should have a ton of N-P-K as well as micronutients, shouldn't it?
Most of my compost is food waste...both my own and the discarded food wastes that I get from stores. Use it just like you would any compost. You don't have to let it bake in the sun, and you don't have to sift out the fine stuff for the garden bed unless you just like the look of it or are starting fine seeds.
Thanks for the advice. Would you know how to use it as a liquid fertilizer. I took a shovels worth and mixed hot water into it (about a gallon). Should I use that solution without diluting it or should I mix soome water in? And what ratio? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Again, you can't over fertilize with it. If you want it to go further, then dilute it a bit, if you don't mind making lots of it, use it full strength.
