This is the last year I am going to buy early plants!! Every year my little seedlings are just to small to plant when the garden is ready. Where can I buy those heating pads to put under my seed trays to get them going early. owl
You should be able to get heat pads or tape for plants in any store that sells seeds and plants, Lowes, K-Mart, Wal-Mart ect. and most seed catalogs. Once your seeds have come up you don't need heating pads under them anymore. You need a south window with unobstructed sunlight and every day you need to lightly brush your hand over the plants to stimulate them to grow strong stems. If you don't have a good south window you will need a light source, preferably florecent, with a grow light to provide the proper light. You will need to adjust the hight of the light to just above the plants as they grow. If the light is too high your plants will be thin weak and leggy. I start my seeds on heat pads, then when they sprout I move them to the porch window on the south side until the weather is warm enough to move to cold frames or my greenhouse, which is not heated. I think this suggestion should help your plants get ready for planting.
To paraphrase John Lennon, "Life is what happens while you're making other plans, especially in the GARDEN."
