I had posted earlier in the summer about my problem with the local squirrels, I still can't believe it but I have the squirrels under control now. I found a product that really chases the squirrels away, at least in the direct area where they are, I put out 3 squirrel chaser bags and in each area the squirels have left. Now there still in the yard but not in the finch fedder or suet feeder anymore(there has always been plenty of corn on the ground for all the animals). I also put one bag on antenna mast near the house where they climb up and get on the roof, and they won't go anywhere near it,there on page 33 in the home trends catalog or www.hometrendscatalog.com ,take care, clarence

We have a very good squirrel control item right in our yard. All we have to do is feed it. D-O-G!!!

He killed off the only pair we had a couple years ago. Now some more have moved in, probably because of the walnut overabundance. Don't mind them at all, and generally don't notice them since dog keeps the population in check! Smiler

Times like this I miss my dog,I had him for 13 and a half years and never had such problems, but I haven't replaced him yet so the animals are doing what they want. The only bad thing that he did was eat all the brussell sprouts (I never understood that). Take care, Clarence

Does that really work? I live in an apartment and we have a balcony that we feed the birds from... We have had quite a variety from Pileated Woodpeckers to a Sharpshin Hawk taking a small bird from our feeders... but the squirrels rule... and what a nuisance they are... I have tried hot pepper powder on the seed and I even vaseline the pole and put the pepper powder on it to discourage them... but to no avail. So if you think it will really work... I am game to try it...

Exactly what was the product you used to keep squirrels
out of your garden ? That web site has many products
available. We had a problem with brown squirrels eating our sweetcorn. I had my barber save about a gallon of hair and put it a foot above the ground in
mesh bags every 8 feet and it seemed to work well.
Your product may be better.
Thanks.

The name of the little bags is squirrel chasers, and yes it really does work, I had one squirrel that tried to ignore it and eat the suet but he couldn't do it for more than one day off and on. They haven't touched anything that I hung the bags on, but the birds don't think twice about landing there and eating the suet or the thistle seeds. I had tried the pepper in many differant forms and nothing helped, I tried the safflower seeds and the squirels would push them aside, once a week you just shake the bag a little to keep the ingrediants stirred up. Sorry it took so long to respond my power supply in my computer went south, So far so good, take care, Clarence

I'll try anything... those squirrels drive me nuts... but then again.. I have played my tricks on them... I took peanuts still in there shell and put them on the railing and poor water over them during the winter... I continue to do it periodically during the evening... so when they get up in the morning they see the nuts but cannot get them... but it is fun to watch them chew at the ice to get them...
