Would like to know if mature green sugar snap peas can be replanted and germinated or if they have to be dried first?

I had some that I must have missed while picking. A few months later, I had mysterious pea seedlings. So, I'd say yes, they would sprout depending on the temp's. Too hot???? They will come up in fall.

Thanks earthworm77. I can see them reseeding after they dry in the pob, but I was wondering if they would sprout when they are still green and not dried yet. I have some a little past there prime but not dried yet. I guess I'll put in a row and see how it goes. Do you have special problems gardening where you are at or is it good there?

You'd think that with all the heat I was blessed to have a great garden year round but I've found out that during the really hot season, not much else will grow besides Beans, eggplant and peppers. It is tough to get really good tomatoes and believe it or not squash. I'm getting ready to seed my fall transplants which I intend to grow under a row cover to protect from heat and sun.

Earthworm - you can try growing okra. It loves the heat. Maybe also corn and melons, if you can keep them watered well.

Also, you can grow all those wonderful tropicals that the rest of the country is denied... I miss the fresh bananas, pineapple, papayas, citrus and guava I used to harvest from my backyard when I lived in Florida.

Wow, I would have thought tomatoes and squash would grow good around there. The tropical type stuff sounds good too but you have to have tomatoes and squash.
About all I can grow around here are squash beatles and cucumber beatles.

Curlydoc, when do you plant your cukes and squash? I see you are in zone 5, like me (zone 4-5). I never plant before June 1. Less bugs that way.

Hi MUMSEY: I planted the same week. All the cucumbers are shot and still have more beatles then ever. The squash is going with lots of cucumber beatles around and in the flowers. The squash beatles are laying eggs faster than I can rip the leaves off and burn them. I've sprayed and dusted with everything organic I have read about. Now I'm seeing the cucumber beatles on the peppers as well. I've never seen the bugs this bad before. Hope your spot is doing well.
