I had a neighbor tell me to mix epson salt and water and spray on ground around my fruit trees, that it would stop the fruits from being infected by worms and scaring. Any thoughts on this?

Whether that would or not would depend on the available magnesium in your soil, if it is low then possibly Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate) might help. However, if there is adequate levels of Magnesium in your soil spraying with Epson Salt could cause other problems by causing your trees to uptake too much Mg and not enough other necessary nutrients. The only way to know is to have a good, reliable soil test done.

Thank you. Our county ext is out on vacation, and 20 miles away in a direction I never go. I need to do one for the garden, so I guess I will just send them in plastic bags to Penn State. They have a downloadable form to send along to tell them what is being grown there.
