I keep a few chickens around to help with the insects, and just 'cause I like'em. They very generiously provide me with a few eggs each day. I don't plan to eat these particular chickens, but I do eat their eggs. They mostly free range, but with winter setting in, what should I be feeding them to keep my eggs organic?

Feed them organic chicken feed. http://www.lionsgrip.com/producers.html has a listing of who makes/sells organic feed in the US. They also have recipes if you want to make your own. They also have a really good message group for all levels and flock sizes.
Try this link as well http://www.attra.org/attra-pub/livestockfeed.html |

Hi, I feed mine some corn and all the table scraps and old bread they want. They like to scratch around in the compost pile and the barn, if you have other animals. The local feed store can probably recomend some other feeds that are organic and would be good for them.
