Ok, you all probably think I've got this thing for plants named after foxes.... maybe I do. Anyway, last year's foxtail lilies (officially emerurus) did very poorly (1 out of 12 actually bloomed and it was not the color I had thought I bought) so I complained. Forgot about it. This afternoon I find 12 foxtail lillies delivered to my front steps! Hopefully one of you has grown this plant and can give me some advice on what they actually need vs. what the plant provider has to say.
Thanks a ton! Foxglove |

I've never grown them, although I admit to having lusted after them!]
Always seemed to find them a little too pricey and figured I'd have to plant a bunch (at least 5 or 7) of them to make a "statemtent". If I could find them at a reasonable price, I'd get em in a heartbeat. But, foxglove......what I'd really like to know is where you got yours? Cause anyplace that would send you 12 additionals, cause some of the originals weren't the right color, is a place I'd want to do business with!! :O gardenz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "To Live Is Not Just To Survive, But To Thrive With Passion, Compassion, Humor & Style." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Blogs: GardenzOwn OurGardenEarth |

Hey Deb,
I love Eremurus! I have 4 in my garden they grow to about 4 to5 feet tall.... I have a peach color....Out of 6 I have 4 only... My plants are in full sun..., crowded with other plants and are planted in heavy rich dirt..... I put 100 lbs of compost every spring in a 20x20 area.... I am not sure why yours did not come up or came up as wrong colors.... but once they take hold they will stay with you.... Do watch out the squirrels and chipmunks may love the bulbs.... Did you get enough rain? I was happy to see it Mary Ellen |

Hi!
I ordered the foxtails from White Flower farm last year. The one that came up and bloomed was supposed to be the peachy-pink, but was white. Of the others, 6 or so just sent up foliage, and sickly foliage at that and the rest went back to Mother Nature. Hopefully the survivors will have strengthed over this year and will put on a nice show next year. The roots of this plant are like a huge starfish, and I'm kinda short on space for this new batch. I was thinking maybe behind the new rosebushes???? I'm going to improve the soil drainage with some sand, maybe that will help. Snappy - we got nice and wet, thanks! I have to wait until this nice breeze dries things off a bit before i start planting stuff and cleaning up! Have a great weekend! Deb |
