Does anyone know if ferret manure/cedar chip bedding is safe for a compost ingredient

I had pet ferrets for many years, & was always advised NOT to use their used bedding or droppings in compost piles because they - along with dogs & cats - can carry pathogens that are transmittable to humans; not all of which are killed by the heat of the cooking compost.

My understanding is that herbivore manure is okay, but omnivore and carnivore is not. My rabbit eats nothing but vegetables, so I use his. Same with my chinchilla. So far as I know (I'm no ferret expert) most ferrets eat dog/cat food or other meat products, so I wouldn't use that.
