My fruit trees have scale. That's the small redish brown balls that sucks the life out of the limbs. I spray lime sulfer but that doesn't do it. What can I stray that is organic and will kill scale? Any ideas? Please don't tell me birds since my garden is full of them I need to spray and I didn't want to use malathyon. I have an organic garden. Help!!!!

Use Oil-Away Insecticidal Spray or Eco-oil Insecticidal spray as a dormant oil spray before bud break in Spring. Crawlers are born over a 2-6 week period starting about 2-3 weeks after bloom, but can be controlled by Oil-Away, Eco-Oil, Pyola Insecticidal Spray or Green Lacewings. These are all Organic products.

Thank you Tulip! I'll give it a try while we have a break in the weather. I accually pruned today. It's been raining and the sun felt good today. Just a visit to the garden center and I'll be ridding those scales off my trees. Thanks

If you can't find these products. go to www.gardensalive.com. I order all my stuff from there. It is an indispensible website for an organic gardener.

The fertrell company offers has a wide array or organic growing products at cheaper prices than Gardens Alive and they are top quality.

The time to spray dormant oil (eco-oil etc..) is AFTER you prune but well before the buds break. The oil suffocates scale insects. We apply ours in Feb/Early March

Great advice garden friends.....Thanks. I plan to prune again this weekend even if it rains. Last count I pruned three trees & have about twenty to go. Next is the rose garden. Oh my, I have my work cut out for me. It's fun to have a garden but still allot of work keeping up with it all.
