I opened seed packets and started tomatoes today. Everything was fine except the Brandywine seed that I got from Fedco. It was damp and moldy, and the seeds were stuck together.
I dashed an email off to Fedco to ask for a replacement packet.
Did anyone else receive damp Brandywine from Fedco?

If it were a postal problem, why would only one seed packet out of 50 in a box be affected? That one packet was buried in the middle of a stack of packets inside the box.

Doesn't sound like a postal problem to me. I'd be interested to know if they send you a new packet of seeds. Also, is it possible to soak the seeds in a 10% bleach solution? Somehow I'm remembering people do this for tomato seeds that they save? Loamy would know. She also has the OG seed bank if you need 'brandywine'( I only have 'Prudens Purple')

Hello J.Appleseed, Seems I didn't order 'candy' onions(only 'copra') this year...hiss...now I want some because after all these months in storage, they are delicious!(I was giving them away because I had so many and they were so huge-never thought I'd eat them). I'll trade up some Uncle David's Dakota squash or Bon-Bon squash for say 30 'Candy' onion seeds?

This being my first year trying to grow onions from seeds, I had many to choose from in the catalogues. Candy and Copra are two that I did get. I'm very encouraged that you like them so much, Franeli, so I hope I'm successful.

Maltesescross! This is March and with these 'candy' onions in storage at 34ËšF since November...wow, I'm in love! I have to admit that I had a 'bowel' issue with these onions earlier on...no more! Storage has changed these onions for me! Can't believe I gave away half my 'storage'! Guess I'll have to just laugh.

I have Candy and Walla Walla seed. I'm really late with them, but I'm hoping to plant them tonight in trays. I think I'll have some of each left over if you want them.
I have to trudge out the the greenhouse in this freezing weather and get some supplies to start them.

Well, it's a good thing that Fedco is sending me a replacement packet then.
I must have missed a discussion about the seed bank. Please tell me about it. Although I can't think of anything I need right now, I may have some nice deposits to make from this year's extras.
Franeli - I saw your message and sent you email.
