The other day I picked up my machete I had been using to cut sunflowers and brussels sprouts and it was covered in flea beetles on the blade. Any idea what they were attracted to? Just thought it was funny.
Also found slugs still clinging to the bottom of my garden fabric. DE for me next year for the first time! No longer a market virgin; looking forward to year two of being a professional grower. |

I would bet that there was still enough of the sap of what you had been cutting to attract the flea beetles.

Was the blade in the sun? This time of year I find all sorts of pests love to congregate on anything metal or plastic that's been warmed by the sun now that the temps are dropping.

SLUGS???? Wow, I've lived in MN for 11 years now and have never seen one here that entire time. When I lived in WA, they were everywhere and they ate everything. KEEP THEM IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS!!!! Just kidding Minnie

There are slugs in Sherburne county, sorry to tell you. I have gotten by with very few over the years but 2009 they sort of came out of nowhere, even in the sand! They ate a lot of holes in tomatoes, cabbage and cucurbits.
