I am a salsa junkie. There, now that it's out of the bag, does anyone know what tomatoes food distributers call 80/40? I ask this because a local resturant makes the most mouthwatering salsa and I would like to grow the kind of tomatoes they use. The chef says they are sweeter than normal, maybe they are just canned with lots of sugar? How heartbreaking. Well, if you are in the food distrabution buisness, or are familiar with this prodcut, please explain.
Thanks.

Bada,
I went onto Yahoo tomatomania and posted about 80/40 tomatoes for you and this is what they said.
The 80/40 is a canned tomato product. They are the "filets" of the tomato cut from the meatiest part of the tomato so the resurants don't have to take time to cut peel and remove seeds.
One person said they were distributed by Better Brands. I'm not sure if that's the name of the brand or not but she typed it just like I did with capitols. Or if they mean the better brands like well known brands like Hunts.
Also one person mentioned a sweeter variety of new japanese tomato - Momotaro. It is a sweet variety.
Well' I hope this helps you out some.
