Over the past couple of years, I have had terrible trouble with powder mildew developing on my yellow crook-neck and zucchini squash; they blossom, get small fruits, then the mildew sets in and the plants shrivel and die. I only water at the base of the plant, never over-head. Any suggestions? I miss that wonderful flavor of fresh garden squash --HELP!!

I use milk and water spray for powdery mildew. Two tablspoons milk to a gallon of water for prevention, and half and half for control.

Since I've never had powdery mildew kill the plants it gets on I'd think you have another problem. Squash Vine Borers can cause the plants to wilt and die, as well as some other things. A 50/50 spray of fat free milk and water, sprayed every 7 to 10 days, will help control powdery mildew
